Edible Mushrooms Workshops
The object of these workshops is to help people develop the skills and confidence to begin collecting, identifying, and safely eating wild edible mushrooms. Activities include a photo presentation of edible Midwest mushrooms, practice identification with fresh specimens, and a mushroom foray in the forest. Edibility guidelines and cautions are provided for each "form group" of mushrooms. Instructors Sarah Foltz and Nick Jordan are knowledgeable and enthusiastic collectors, eaters, students, and teachers of edible fungi. They have mushroomed in places ranging from the rainforests of Hawaii to the mountains of Colorado, but are most impressed by the diverse and abundant edible mushrooms of the Midwest field, forest, and lawn. Please contact Sarah (sair.foltz@gmail.com) or Nick (jordan.nick@gmail.com) for more information.
